Coach Mindaugas Janiska, born in Lithuania, the country well-known across the globe for its basketball traditions and achievements. Basketball, is the number one sport in Lithuania and considered to be the nation’s second religion. It’s no coincidence, that coach MD Janiska has chosen the basketball pathway, since his parents were not only huge fans of basketball, but also actively involved in playing basketball as well.

Introduced to basketball for the very first time from the age of 6, now coach, MD Janiska has never looked back ever since. During the youth career, coach MD Janiska and his hometown youth team, have reached great success and won many trophies and awards nationally, as well as internationally. Along with team success, coach MD Janiska have gained personal recognition and was named MVP of many local as well as international basketball tournaments. With recognition, the attention followed from Lithuanian national team and coach MD Janiska was called up to represent his country at a junior level from the age of 14.

At the age of 17, coach MD Janiska accepted an offer for a basketball scholarship and left his home country to study and play basketball in the USA. After graduating from high school in the USA, coach MD Janiska was offered a basketball scholarship to carry on with his studies and continue playing basketball at the university in Austin, Texas. After his return from the USA, coach MD Janiska have played professionally in the top leagues, countries such as Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands and the UK.

Basketball has been great to coach MD Janiska, with progression through every stage in terms of basketball development, from the youth to professional level. Having played at the top-elite level competitions locally and the international levels, representing:

– Lithuanian Junior National teams, was part of the LTU junior teams of U14 | U16 | U18

– Playing in the USA, received basketball scholarships for playing at the high school and collegiate levels in the United States of America.

– Playing Pro Basketball, representing teams at the top leagues in Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Also, it has presented the opportunity to play against world-class level players such as JJ.Redick (Clippers, NBA), Carlos Boozer (Chicago Bulls, NBA), Raymond Felton (Clippers, NBA), Shane Battier (Memphis Grizzlies, NBA) just to mention the few. All this experience, has enabled coach MD Janiska to have a different perspective and experiences of the basketball game at the elite level.

Coach MD Janiska, is regularly approached to attend various international basketball camps, online webinars to share basketball knowledge and experience. Throughout the years, coach MD Janiska has also built many new and long-lasting relationships with many of former teammates, coaches and personnel across many parts of the world.
